Recently we worked with Gaby and Frank on their beautiful wedding at the Spanish Monastery. Deep reds, purples and gold transformed the Monastery into an amazing castle like setting. Great Location on Lincoln Road

Today I went for a rehearsal with a client on Lincoln Road. It turns out there's a great courtyard area, parking area (which turns into a great reception place when tented), and party room with intimate garden. The place rents for under $1500. It's in the center of Lincoln Road, but it's totally private! Definitely a must see. Call or email us for more details.

My client Aloha, is having her reception at Nikki Beach. They have a nice, somewhat private garden area great for initimate weddings, rehearsal dinners, and bridal or baby showers. I 'll keep everyone posted on how it turns out. Be on the look out for pictures.

Today I also visited the EPIC hotel in downtown. Ivette, from catering was very nice. The view is great! Always on the look out for new and exciting venues to offer our clients. We're almost ready

Yea, it's been awhile again. We're hiring a great communications manager to update our blog, post pictures in a timely manner and basically communicate with everyone out there. Pili is her name and she's fabulous!!

We finally got the awning installed at the Club of Knights-we're now working on the corridor in the lounge area it'll be ready next week. The Club of Knights is really looking GOOD!!!

Well, I must say the Loft on Bayshore is really gainning popularity. I'm waiting on some great shots courtesy of Hitz Photo to show our last event. It was great.

We're Going to be New & Improved!


Fetes & Events offices will be closed for remodeling from Saturday, July 10th-Saturday July 25, 2009. Nicole will still be in the office (limited hours) to attend to phone calls and keep up with emails. However, there will be no showings during this time.

Major Virus & Email Trouble

Good evening to all-
It's been some time since I've had the time to sit and write about happenings at Fetes & Events. Let me start by saying that our computer system was infected with a horrible virus about 1 1/2 weeks ago. I am still unable to send out emails although I can receive them. To any of you out there that have been in and are expecting a proposal, please hang in there. It's coming!!!! I'm trying to get everything squared away.

In the meantime, so very special clients have gotten married. Andrea & Kevin had their beautiful garden wedding at the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens. Ceremony on the great lawn under a great bamboo arch with tropical flowers. Tropical and chic was the theme and mission accomplished. Lounge furniture, chocolate fountain, live band-great! The band rocked so much the neighbors actually complained about the noise. The guests didn't mind though. They had an awesome time. Congratulations to Andrea & Kevin.

Christie & Ariel had their wedding at the Key Biscayne Rowing Club. A great place facing the water and the Miami skyline. It's a steal at less than $1000 in location fees. Their wedding was amazing. Family style tables dressed in floor length tiffany blue linens with white orchids floating in tall cylinders topped with floating candles. A total of 7 arrangements filled with table. Taller and shorter glass cylinders filled with water and floating candles and white mini calla lillies. Christie looked fabulous in her wedding attire. Everyone had a great time. The DJ Connection's newest MC Nestor was a hit. As always at the turntable Mike mixed the night away. He was so good a guest actually requested his phone number on the spot for him to dj another party. Way to go Mike..... Can't wait to see the pictures by Hitz Photo. As soon as their available we'll definitely post some.

New Pictures

I want to thank Patty of PS Photography for the great photo shoot at the Loft. Using great LED lights provided by our favorite DJs from the DJ Connection we were able to create many beautiful looks. The lights are fantastic, they change colors during the event and can be programmed to change to the beat of the music. They look fantastic. Hopefully those pictures will be ready soon.
So, we've been busy perking up the Loft and the lounge area at the Club of Knights. We should have some pictures ready soon of the new look. We're also working on improving the front entrance at the Club of Knights. Hopefully, the city of Coral Gables will finally!!!! give us our permits so our draping and awnings can come up.
we have plenty of upcoming and exciting news which will be announced soon. Be on the look out.

Wedding Show Great Success




So, we had our bridal show on Sunday at Douglas Entrance. More than 100 brides and their guests joined us. We had 6 table designs displayed. Winter, Fall, Summer, Spring (also Eco-Friendly), Modern, and Traditional.




Everyone of the displays looked beautiful. Our preferred wedding dress vendors-Daisy Tarsi brought some beautiful wedding gowns for everyone to preview. The DJ Connection kept everyone entertained, while Elite Cake Creations gave out some of their goodies.




We had some hors d'oeuvres samples along with great raspberry mojitos. Also, for the stressed brides, we had celebrity chiropractor Dr. Alex Jaimes offering complimentary stress relieving massages. Recent Events

























































So, we've been very busy here. Last weekend we managed to coordinate and cater 4 weddings. We wish Carrie & Cory a great life together. Although it was a wet night, everyone had a great time. We dressed the courtyard at the Deering Estate with ivory floor length linens and amazing organza embroidered overlays. Tall silver urns filled with white hydrangeas, roses, peonies, and other greenry looked breathtaking.
On Saturday we also had Gretel and Daniel at the Club of Knights. A beautiful Spring wedding with crushed white satin overlays and centerpieces made with ivory roses and hydrangeas. A touch of lavendar was added to the bride and groom table for that extra pop. We wish Gretel and Daniel a million years of happiness.

Amanda and Gabriel also celebrated their marriage on Saturday, March 21st. Their wedding as at the Pans Foundation Gardens in Palm Beach. A graphic designer, Amanda's talent was evident in the beautiful color combination she selected. Celedon green with navy blue. It looked soooo beautiful. Accents of peacock feathers brought the whole look together. Amanda looked like a super model! The location was perfect for her gathering of 70 guests. Although the location staff was extremely rude and difficult to work with we managed to make it through the evening. We wish Amanda and Gabriel a long and happy marriage.


On Sunday we had the wedding of two great people: Christina and D. They are both so kind and easy to work with. Her mom was also amazing. The wedding was at Deering Estate. The colors of green, turquoise, and chocolate brown all merged to create the perfect look. It was rain-free and everything turned out great. We wish them so many years of happiness...

Promotional Package

This week's events were at The Club of Knights and Douglas Entrance. What an experience.

The A/C broke at Douglas Entrance and the breakers were having issues. We were faced with a very difficult situation. We delayed the hors d'oeuvres trying to stall so the guests would not need to suffer the heat of the ballroom and dancing since it was a nice evening outside. Then, the breakers started to trip, I guess as they were trying to fix the a/c. However, about 2 hours into the event the issue was repaired.
At the end the place looked amazing. Congratulations Stacey and Kris. We'll be posting pictures soon. Be on the look out.

The wedding at the Club of Knights went without a hitch. The ceremony and reception were held in the courtyard with hors d'oeuvres in the lounge. The guests partied away and had a great time. Congratulations to Cornelia and Stu...

Greetings from Vegas

Hello Everyone:

First things first, congratulations to Jenifer Bauer and Fernando Garcia on a beautiful wedding at the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens on Saturday, February 21, 2009. All white linens and flowers with floating candles looked great in the Banyan Room. Walls lined with white organza fabric and amber uplights provided the perfect backdrop for a great event. Fabric decor and lighting provided by Sylvia Rimondi of the Botanical Gardens. DJ was Frankie-a really nice guy I had never had the pleasure of working with. Good music..Good MC. Photography by Hitz photography. Eveything provided by Fetes & Events. We'll post some pictures when they're available.

Congratulations to Natalie and Steve. Also married on February 21, 2009. They selected the great Club of Knights venue for their reception. Beautiful centerpieces of pink gerbers and sage hydrangeas decorated the tables. DJ Connection rocked the night away. The images will soon be ready by Hitz Photography. Fantastic hors d'oeuvres and a great menu were prepared by our fantastic chef.






Well, I'm returning tomorrow from a week long trip to Vegas & Tahoe. Business and pleasure as we visited the 2009 Catersource show in Vegas and went sking in Tahoe. We walked the show floor searching for innovative products and trends to bring home to our clients. Definitely the green thing is the way to go. We'll have more info as time goes on.

The ZEN House wins the 2009 Planners' Choice Award for Best Wedding Places

Hello Everyone:
First, a Happy Valentine's Day to all. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. I'd like to congratulate Heather & Eddy Brown, our Valentine's Day couple who got married at the ZEN House on Saturday. The party was great. Everyone was greeted by the Mora Arriaga mariachi band. After a cocktail hour and ceremony at the front of the house everyone was escorted into the beautiful clear tent illuminated with round, large paper lanterns. The duponi silk orange linens and purple phylanopsis orchid centerpieces really added pazzazz! Heather wore a great gown with amazing lace and bead work. Special thanks to our great partners, Hitz Photography and the DJ Connection for another job well done.

On another note, we're excited to report that the ZEN House our exclusive location won the 2009 Planners' Choice Award for Best Wedding Places. Along with Venetian Pool (which is amazing) and Fairchild Tropical Gardens(fantastic) which were selected as well.

Hello.

Well, I am happy to report that our client is once again a happy camper. It's amazing to see how the stresses of wedding planning really affects people. Always remember this is supposed to be the happiest time in your lives. Don't let yourself get boggled down with many little details and enjoy this time you have to put together the pieces of the rest of your lives.

I would also like to comment on the internet and how it's free license for all that want to vent. Always read everything with a grain of salt. Whether it's positive feedback or negative comments always experience for yourself. The internet seems to give too many people the opportunity to bash others for no reason.

Always do your own research, visit the locations yourselves, meet the vendors, talk to them, see if YOU feel comfortable with them. Don't let someone else's opinion (often times someone you don't even know) discourage you from something. There are many mean spirited, ill-willed people out there.

Good News... Not so good news

Well, since we like to think of the glass as half full, we'll start with the good news. Fetes & Events was selected to participate in the Best of South Florida TV special in the wedding planner category. We thank you guys for giving us the opportunity to serve you both current and past clients. You can watch the special on the CW Network on Sunday at 11:30 am.

On a more negative note. In our industry obviously customer satisfaction is priority 1. However you have no idea how hard it is to please everyone. Recently I read a review of a current client (someone whose wedding is still to come) who has already started to post something negative about us. Their many concern is our lack of flexibility with outside vendors and making exceptions to the rules. I really take time to review our rules and regulations with all clients BEFORE they sign on the dotted line. We don't like to give people a hard time. It's just we live in a society where liability is a BIG DEAL.

For example, imagine we allow a florist (a vendor we've not worked with) to come in set up, stand on a ladder and start hanging things. This vendor falls in our location and then claims our outdoor floor was uneven causing the ladder to move hence causing their fall. Then they proceed to sue us.

Another example, a vendor brings in some expensive equipment. Decides to set up the day before and pick up the day after. When they come to p/u for whatever reason it's broken, missing, etc (a lot of people use our space). Guess who's liable for it then?

They're also accusing us of "bait and switch." This I don't understand since their event hasn't even happend yet. Many times we get requests from clients who want this or that for free. Can we please let them use the room only for 30 min? To this I always say would you walk into McDonald's and say "I'm buying a burger can you just give me a small bag of fries for free?" I wonder what they would answer?

I write this tonight because it's truly disappointing when you invest so much time into someone's event to make it nice and hope to exceed expections and you're already receiving negative marks. I hope this client rethinks their position and understands ours. Although I may not always be available to respond to questions, I do have a staff that is readily available to address all concerns. I really hope in the end this couple is happy with their event. It is the most special day of their lives....

Congratulations!

Mercy Prieto had a beautiful wedding at the Club of Knights. Her colors were chocolate brown, ivory and a deep purple/burgundy. Everything looked great!


Raisa Echevarria selected a winter wonderland theme. White willow with orchids and crystal centerpieces, along with ice blue linens and blue lights adorned the ballroom at the Club of Knights. We wish you guys the best.


Well, we also had our first wedding at the loft. Kelly Nelson's wedding lasted until 4:00 am. The 7 hour event was a huge success. Our new chocolate brown drapes and Philip Stark chandelier welcomed Kelly and Andre's guests as they drove up to the loft. Ice blue lighting, ivory pintuck linens and great willow and orchid centerpieces (designed by Ana Bastos of Your Main Event) made the loft look amazing. I'll try to get some pictures up.
